What can Mergado MCP do?

Mergado MCP is a standard MCP (Model Context Protocol) server that lets you use an AI agent – ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, n8n and others – to analyze and edit your data in Mergado directly from the chat. You don’t need to know Mergado or click around in the editor. The agent does it for you.

The agent doesn’t touch the data directly. Instead, it uses Mergado selections, rules and audit, which are built for large volumes of data. Feed processing stays fast, cheap and accurate even for huge catalogs – with no hallucinations, unfinished edits or unintended changes to your data.

On top of that, the rules and selections you set up keep running even without the agent. Tomorrow, next week, next month. No re-entering instructions, no additional AI costs.

To make sure the AI agent knows exactly how and when to use each tool in Mergado, we’ve prepared a set of skills – guides that tell the agent what to do in which situation. A skill activates automatically whenever you’re working with the agent on things like Google Shopping errors, filling in missing values or importing a new e‑shop. It first gets familiar with the project and discusses the solution with you. Only after you confirm does it make the changes itself.

Backing up and restoring projects

Mergado MCP has API access to a project’s entire configuration. This means it can create a backup and restore it whenever needed.

We recommend doing this as your very first step once you start working with Mergado MCP. Have all your projects backed up regularly. Downloading a project’s state costs nothing, and you get a safety net that Mergado didn’t previously offer.

Bulk creation of elements and variables

Do you need to add data to a Mergado project from a spreadsheet with dozens or hundreds of columns? In Mergado, that means clicking to create each element and variable one by one – easily hours of work. With Mergado MCP, the AI agent handles it via the API in a matter of minutes. Anything you’d normally click through in the editor, you can simply write to the agent and it will do it for you.

Automatic parameter extraction

Are your parameters (dimensions, material, color) hidden in product descriptions or titles, and you need them in separate elements? In Mergado, that means creating a rule that finds the right part of the description text and moves it into an element. But it has to work for dozens of different description variants, which takes time and knowledge of regular expressions. The AI agent handles this with ease.

Smarter feed audits

Mergado Audit checks whether a feed contains the required and recommended elements and whether their values are valid. What it can’t tell is whether a value actually makes sense – for example, whether the chosen Google category is really the best fit. Via MCP, the AI agent also looks at the product title, product type and all the surrounding context, so it can recommend a better categorization. The audit thus gets a second, more comprehensive layer of checking. You can even just tell it “audit and fix” and let it get to work.

Working with data across projects

Thanks to Mergado MCP, the AI agent can see into multiple projects at once. For example, it can work with data from a project containing your product feed and, at the same time, with data from a project where you store customer reviews. Previously, you had to import all the data into a single project to work with it together. Now the agent connects the context of both projects on its own – it checks which reviews belong to which product and uses them, for instance, to rewrite descriptions or fill in other elements.

Seasonal and other advanced product segmentation

Do you sell seasonal goods, but nothing in your feed says what’s “summer” and what’s “winter”? Your Google campaigns can then easily start pushing budget into products nobody is actually interested in. The agent goes through the feed, evaluates which elements indicate seasonality, and automatically sorts and labels the products accordingly. The correct labels then flow into your campaigns, and your budget goes to the products people are actually buying right now.

Connecting with other MCPs

Once you’ve connected Mergado MCP to your AI agent, you can also add other MCP servers (for example, for Facebook Ads or Google Ads). This lets the agent, for instance, check Facebook diagnostics, find catalog errors that the Mergado audit didn’t catch, fix them itself, and create matching segmentation in Mergado based on campaign performance. All without any manual data import between systems.

Mapping and importing supplier feeds

Connecting a new supplier is a demanding task for most people – different formats, non-standard structures, missing columns, different categories. The agent can map a supplier feed to your e‑shop’s structure, and if you give it access to your website’s categories, it can assign products straight to the right ones. A task that used to require an experienced specialist can now be done much faster with an AI agent.

You are in control

Depending on the permissions you grant the agent, it can in Mergado:

  • read – projects, rules, products, statistics, audit results and processing history
  • edit – create and modify rules, products, elements, selections, variables and projects

The agent can also work with auditu results – for example, suggest and apply fixes for the errors the audit finds.

API access in Mergado also allows the agent to delete data. That’s why you should always have a project backup made the first time you use it. Simply tell the agent: “back up my project settings so I can roll back if something goes wrong.” Mergado MCP can easily download and restore a backup. Just one extra sentence and you can rest easy.
