How Mergado handles secured feeds

Mergado can process a feed accessed with a login and password or retrieve it, even if the download is limited on the online store side to certain IP addresses. Let’s find out how to do it.

Feed accessible by login and password

Need to work with a password-protected feed? Enter this information in the feed URL.

Example:

https://login:password@www.vas-e-shop.cz/feed.xml (where the part after the @ sign is the url of your feed)

Feed protected for downloads from specific IP addresses only

Does your client require the feed to be protected for downloads only from specific IP addresses? Just add the following IP address to the whitelist (the registry where accesses are granted) from which Mergado retrieves feeds:

81.31.39.112

Be aware, that… 

The output URL for downloading only from specific IP addresses can be secured using the Symlink Stork app.

However, there are a few protective factors:

1. The output URL contains a hash (a long string of characters). It is therefore not possible to guess the address. No one other than the person to whom you give the address has a chance of discovering it.
2. The download of the output feed is logged and available on the History page, where only events related to the download of the XML feed can be filtered.

3. If the feed is downloaded by an unknown user-agent (other than the ones used by the price comparion engines), you will see it in the Download History, even several months back.
